The University of Huddersfield host an excellent site on Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA). Their section on methodologies (which includes a mix of methodologies and methods descriptions) is a good starting point for a research trying to get sense of the landscape. The University of Manchester also host a useful site with details of QDA methods.

Al lot, if not most, QDA now employes computer software to aid analysis. The most comprehensive site on Computer Aided Qualitative Data Analysis is from the CAQDAS project in the University of Surrey. Running since 1994 they have produced an extensive range of research papers and guides.

There is quite a range of software availble and each package is constantly developing, making choosing as package a real challenge. The best way to decide (I have no affilliation commercial or otherwise with CAQDAS) is to take one of their excellent courses where you get an introduction to the software packages and a chance to talk to the experts. The site also hosts a comprehensive section on moving beyond initial coding an analysis.
